Tell 2020 What You Want It To Do For You

What do you want? Do you live by default in hopes that what you want comes, or do you speak as if the desires of your heart are to be so? In the past, I couldn't wait for a new year. I was always wishing for the past year to be over in hopes that a new one would magically bring change. However, the READ MORE

Meta (self-aware) Marketing

During a stroll among the Christmas decorations in a local shopping district with my 19-year-old son, we walked by a candy store when he suddenly stopped and declared that their window signs were cool and very "meta". (Meta? What on earth is "meta"? Please tell me I'm not the only middle-aged READ MORE

Microbusiness

When business and personal life are hopelessly entangled.

I wish I could say I manage my schedule well all the time. But the truth is, time management is a process of constant adjustments. My business and personal life are completely entwined. Even worse, it alters week-to-week, even day-to-day. I NEED flexibility in planning my week. If you're a READ MORE

Baking Memories That Made A Business

Debra Sandlin never planned on opening a bakery. It just kind of happened over time. What started as a bonding time baking with her mother at a young age soon became a necessary skill to help her family after the loss of her mother. Then, as a teenager, baking was a way for her to fill idle time and READ MORE

Tips For Managing Social Media As A Microbusiness or Microentrepreneur

As a microbusiness or someone who is self-employed, managing social media can seem like a daunting task. Most of us wear all the hats in our business anyway and social media, especially, seems like a massive time suck that's impossible to keep up with. It is. ☛ Ideally, if you are serious READ MORE

Keep Priming The Pump Until You See The Water

A bit of honesty here. I've been pushing myself the last several months in several aspects of life and business. And it hasn't been easy. The worst part? I still don't see any evidence of my efforts in losing weight and very little results in one of my businesses. It feels like I've been priming the READ MORE

Time to reconnect! Some new things/next phases com Time to reconnect! Some new things/next phases coming (and already started. I’ll share more this weekend).

I’m Laura, aka Microbiz Chick. Owner of @paolalanemag and @jotandtittletypewriters. I do things a little differently.

I say “yes” to God (aka Adonai/Elohim/Yeshua) every day and do what He says. He is my King. This leads to some interesting journeys - and sometimes laying down of dreams to be quiet and wait.

A new podcast is coming next week that chronicles this hard to explain journey of life and business. I hope you stick around!

I had no idea mornings could be so powerful. I've I had no idea mornings could be so powerful.

I've heard of folks who get up early to work - or workout - but neither of those activities resonated with me. The mornings are always my time to TAKE TIME TO JUST BE.

Thinking that I needed to change the fact that I move slow in the mornings, I've come to realize how powerful these mornings really are!

Being quiet, sipping coffee, cleaning the kitchen, making the bed (sometimes - I'm trying to be better!), praying, reading, taking the dog for a walk...all before diving into work, is so important.

So, instead of thinking I'm wasting my mornings by moving slow, I see now that I'm preparing myself for the day. Once I shifted that perspective, my mornings have become not only more relaxing but ironically,...productive. Yes, rest is productive. ❤️

Do you pick a word of the year for yourself? I sta Do you pick a word of the year for yourself? I started choosing a word for the year about 4 or 5 years ago. I do it by praying about it and asking God if there's a word or phrase that will set the tone for my year.

Some say it's silly or isn't the best approach to living - or that's now how God works.

I'm not here to say everyone should do it. If it's how God works in my life, I won't assume that's how He operates in yours. But at least I want to testify to how God is working in my life.

That being said, this year I got the word, TRANSITION. I thought it was going to be... (READ the full post for free on my substack page. Link in bio).

There are so many different tasks to do when runni There are so many different tasks to do when running a business. I'll go weeks or months without posting on social media. Keeping consistent is hard, but instead of being consistent at everything, I'm learning to be strategic with my energy.

That being said, I felt I needed a push out of my comfort zone: almost as an exercise as I am developing business strategies this quarter. So...I'm creating short 3-5 minute videos every day for the next 30 days to see what happens.

I have a channel on both YouTube & Rumble. Thanks for checking it out. So far, some good biz tips in the first 2 days as I share my personal journey in business! (links in bio)
