A COLORADO GIRL LIVING A LAKE LIFE
Colorado is where I’ve spent most of my life. Born just over the border in Wyoming, raised in Denver, and settled in Colorado Springs. However, my family and I recently relocated to southwest Missouri – purchasing a home overlooking Table Rock Lake.
I’m a microentrepreneur, just like you. No staff or big budgets. Just me, my ideas, and the will to make stuff happen. The more I think about it, I’d say my motto in life is, “Why Not?”. Opportunities are seen everywhere and if I had unlimited time and finances, I’d probably pursue every idea I have. But…that’s not possible, so I encourage others to pursue their ideas. My “Why Not?” has created a fun vintage typewriter business for my husband and taken me down roads I never imagined. For one, I’m writing my first book, to be published this late fall (fingers crossed!).
After years of thinking I had nothing to offer, one day I sat up and realized all those hours of learning how to do things for my other businesses left me with awesome skills I can use to start another one.
→Over the years I discovered I love to learn, create, and write.
→Watching others succeed brings me as much joy as proudly observing my own son have fun and receive blessings.
→Becoming a public “guru” with a large following is not my thing. For me, I want to take the hands of fellow business owners and do life and business together; SHOWING them how rather than telling them. One-on-one or in small gatherings. That’s how I like to impact others. And my life is impacted by them as well!
→I continue to work, offering small business services because I think it’s important to stay in the game if I want to be an effective mentor.
A TRUCK, CAMPER TRAILER, AND THE SEA
The absolute best part about being a microentrepreneur is the flexibility and opportunities. Already, I’m able to pick right up with my business – and continue with some clients – and barely miss a beat after moving across the country. While serving local customers is the best, I’m also creating something that is mobile. That way, I can pack up my computer, hitch a little trailer to my truck, and spend a year by the water – driving along and exploring the entire coastline of the U.S. – if I so desire. (yes, I do!)
